Through close collaboration with diverse end-users, this project supports the incorporation of toxicogenomics data and animal-free, in vitro approaches for chemical prioritization and contributes to prediction/protection efforts associated with chemicals/mixtures of environmental concern. Testing approaches for both laboratory and ecological sentinel species are used for ultimate uptake and use in decision-making. Novel toxicogenomic tools will be developed for relevant environmental species for use in effects-based monitoring in priority ecosystems (e.g. Arctic, oilsands, Great Lakes), assessing exposure and cumulative effects of chemical mixtures and other stressors in wild avian species and avian cell lines. The project does not specifically address issues related to gender, underrepresented groups, or vulnerable populations.
